Uganda JSC Recruitment 2024 Vacancies

The vacant positions announced by the Judicial Service Commission are; Justice of Court of Appeal and High Court Judge. The recruitment started on 11th July, 2024 to end on 5:00pm of 25th July, 2024.

Persons who have interest for these jobs are to make submission on or before the set deadline as failure to adhere accordingly will lead to disqualification.

Eligibility Criteria for JSC Recruitment 2024

Generally, irrespective of the position you’re applying for, you must have the following;

  • A valid copy of National Identification Card
  • Most updated and detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Recent passport size photograph.
  • Recommendation date from two (2) professionals and two (2) character referees.

Requirements for JSC Vacancies 2024

Now for the position based eligibility, here are the requirements you must meet.

Justice of Court of Appeal

As the justice for court of appeal, your primary duty will be to adjudicate cases within the frame and capacity of the Court of Appeal of Uganda in compliance with the constitution.

  • Candidate applying must have Ordinary level certificate, and Advance level certificate.
  • It is mandatory to have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an approved university.
  • A Post graduate Diploma (PGD) in legal practice from a recognized institution preferable Law Development Center is needed.
  • Applicant of this role must currently be serving or had already served as a Judge of the High Court or a court of equivalent jurisdiction in Civil and Criminal matters.
  • Having served as an Advocate of the High Court for at least ten (10) years is an added advantage.
  • Talking about work experience, the period for which you may have served as Public Officer will also be taken into account for qualification of an advocate.
  • Applicant must be conversant with ICT applications.
  • Other relevant professional and post graduate qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Lastly, a certificate of enrolment will be required.

High Court Judge

In line with the Constitution of Uganda, you will be adjudicating cases subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court.

  • Applicants of this role must have an Ordinary and Advance level certificate as well as Bachelors degree in law from a recognized university.
  • Applicant must have a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in legal practice from Law Development Center or institution of equivalent recognition.
  • Candidate applying for this position must have served or maybe currently service as a Judge or a Court with unlimited jurisdiction in Civil and Criminal matters.
  • An equivalent to the above requirements is possess a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as an Advocate of a court with unbounded jurisdiction.
  • Candidates appointed for this post shall be in probation for two (2) years before appointed in a substantive capacity.
  • Applicant should be ICT inclined.
  • Providing extra advance certifications will be an added advantage.

How to Apply for Uganda JSC Recruitment 2024

Candidates who meet the above requirements are to visit the Judicial Service Commission of Uganda official website www.jsc.go.ug, navigate to news & public notices, and download JSC form 1 and self-assessment declaration form.

After that, prepare a type written application letter, carefully fill the downloaded JSC form 1 and attach copies of National ID, passport, updated CV, recommendation letters, academic and professional certificates.

Copies of latest and complete declaration of income, assets and liabilities from the Inspectorate of government for applicants in JSC.

Candidates are to arrange these documents into a Portable Document Format (PDF) and send via email.

Those applying for Justice of Court of Appeal should send their application to jcos2024@jsc.go.ug while applicants of High Court Judge should send to hcj2024@jsc.go.ug.
