The Uganda People Defence Force known for short as the UPDF is the military of Uganda, and they are tasked with ensuring that the country is protected and secured from terrorists or foreign attacks.

The UPDF will conduct a general recruitment exercise of 9627 regular forces into Infantry forces. This actual recruitment exercise will run from 19th June up until 3rd July in 2024.

Requirements for UPDF Recruitment

  • Must be a Uganda citizen 
  • Must be between the age of 18 to 25 although waivers are granted to older applicants with special skills.
  • A minimum of at least the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent is required.
  • Applicants must be medically fit 
  • Applicants must be physically fit and be ready to pass a physical assessment.
  • Applicants must be at least 162.56 cm for male and 157.48 cm for females.

  • Select Apply

According to recents reports, and by the Uganda People Defence Force themselves, they have started that they are looking to hire an additional 1600 soldiers in 2024.

This soldiers they are looking to hire should have at least a diploma in the following programmes:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Telecommunications Engineering
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Cyber Security
  • Computer Forensics
  • Computer Science
  • Aero Space

Or at least have certificates in the following fields:

  • Masons
  • Electricians
  • Painters
  • Specialised fabricators
  • Carpenters
