10 Civilian Positions in Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence, Kenya has announce 10 positions for civilian staff. If you would like to apply for MOD recruitment, applications are being received via the career portal.
The management announced that interested and qualified persons can now proceed to either the Public Service Commission website or Ministry of Defence to download, fill and submit the application form.
Just to build a little overview, it is important you take note of the following concerning the Ministry of Defence also referred to as the Ministry of Internal Security and Defence.
This body comprises of Kenya Army, Air Force, Navy, Police and even prisons. It oversees the activity of both military and para-military operations in the country.

This is an official notice that Ministry of Defence recruitment has commence starting 27th April, 2023 and applications are to be submitted on or before 22nd May, 2023.
Open Positions
The vacant positions in Ministry of Defence for Civilian Staff are as follows; Driver II, Artisan (Panel Beater III), Artisan (Spray Painter III), Artisan (Welder III), Artisan III (Tailor), Artisan III (Motor Vehicle Electrician), Motor Vehicle Mechanic III, Cook III, Clerical Officer II, Senior Support Staff etc.
The average salary for the positions announced in Ministry of Defence rangers from Ksh. 14,610 – 20,800 depending on the position.
General Requirements
The fundamental expectation of the Ministry from applicant irrespective of the position they’re applying for includes:
Having a minimum of mean grade D plain in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Persons who possess NYS certificates and are computer literate as well as meeting the requirements of Chapter in the constitution have an added advantage.
A valid identification document like National Identity Card, Passport or Driver’s license is necessary to have. Possessing few years of relevant work experience is still a thumbs up.
How to Apply
You can get the application form from Public Service Commission website www.publicservice.go.ke or the Ministry’s website www.mod.go.ke. Once you have downloaded, filled and completed the form, attach copies of relevant documents and certificates.
Send the hard copy application to the Ministry of Defence Office at Nairobi before 4pm of May 22, 2023. Note that the application process is free and no candidate is permitted to submit their form after the set deadline.
Recruitment Process
The Ministry of Defence recruitment process entails; (1) submission of application (2) shortlisting of successful applicant (3) screening of shortlisted candidates and then resumption of duty.
Submission of Application: Persons interested in the positions announced by the Ministry are to follow the above steps to submit application before the closing date.
Shortlisting of Successful Applicants: After the expiration of the application period, the management will review all submitted application and then publish the names of successful applicant.
Screening: Shortlisted candidates would then be invited for screening exercise which involves a bit of interview and validation of submitted certificates and documents.
At the end of the day, candidates who succeed in this process will resume duty.
