Machakos is made up of eight (8) constituencies including Machakos Town, Mavoko, Masinga, Yatta, Kangundo, Kathiani, Matungulu, and Mwala. Machakos Town is the administrative capital of the County.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Eligibility criteria for positions announced by Machakos County are as follows:

1. Registered Nurse III (163 positions)

  • Candidates applying for the position of Registered nurse III must have a Diploma in any of these areas:
  • Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry from an accredited institution.
  • Registration certificate from the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Current practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

2. Watchmen/Support Staff II (40 positions)

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with a grade of D (Plain)
  • Certificate of Good Conduct

3. Public Health Assistant III (17 positions)

  • Certificate in Environmental Health Science or Public Health Technology from an accredited institution
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

4. Medical Laboratory Technician III (15 positions)

Certificate in one of the following areas:

  • Laboratory Science
  • Laboratory Technology
  • Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

Registration certificate from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians & Technologists Board (KMLTTB)

Valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians & Technologists Board (KMLTTB)

5. Registered Clinical Officers II (15 positions)

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution
  • Registration certificate from the Clinical Officers’ Council
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in Public Service
  • Valid professional practice license from the Clinical Officers’ Council
  • Certificate in computer applications

6. Nursing Officers (10 positions)

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Successfully completed a one (1) year internship at a recognized institution
  • Registration license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

7. Medical Officers (10 positions)

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
  • Registration certificate issued by the nursing Council of Kenya
  • Valid practising license from Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

8. Assistant Physiotherapist III (10 positions)

  • Diploma in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution
  • Registration certificate from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK)
  • Valid certificate of practice from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK)
  • Certificate in computer application skills

9. Cook II

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of “D” plain or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Certificate in Food and Beverage Production, Sales, and Service or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years of service experience

10. Medical Engineering Technician III

  • Certificate in Medical Engineering or any other equating qualification from an approved institution and
  • Also a Certificate in computer skills from an accredited institution.

Further requirements

Candidates of the above positions must be citizens of Kenya and must be in compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya by possess the following:

  • Tax compliance certificate from KRA
  • Clearance certificate from HELB
  • Clearance certificate from Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC)
  • Certificate of good conduct (DCI)
  • Credit Reference Bureau clearance
