The Mount Kenya University, MKU recruitment 2024 is ongoing as vacancies were announced on 23rd May, 2024. The positions includes Executive Secretary, Administrative Assistant, Director Alumni relations, Assistant Registrar for graduate studies and Deputy Director for Graduates studies.

Requirements for Mount Kenya University Jobs

The selection and eligibility criteria as mended by the university focuses on three aspects which are (i) Education (ii) Skills (iii) Experience etc.

Executive Secretary

Your duties as responsibilities as the executive secretary shall include preparations of meetings, administering, managing and coordinating all incoming and outgoing mails/correspondence. The eligibility criteria for this role are as follows.

  • Education: You should possess a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Communication Art, Linguistics or other relevant academic discipline.
  • Skills: You should have a better understanding of Shorthand III, Typewriting III, Business English III, Office Management III, Secretarial Duties II, Office Practice II, Commerce II, Accounting and as well be proficient in ICT application etc.
  • Experience: Practically, 3-5 years’ experience working as a Senior Secretary or equivalent position is required.

Administrative Assistant

You will be aiding in execution of administration functions and other assigned duties by immediate supervisor.

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in relevant academic discipline is required.
  • Skills: Good interpersonal communication skills, ability to work under pressure, analytical and problem solving skills are needed.
  • Experience: You should have a minimum of three (3) or five (5) year experience as a grade 7 officer or equivalent position.

Director, Alumni Relations

Strategically building relationship through written and verbal communications to link together diverse range of individuals.

  • Education: First and Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, and Public relations etc. qualifies you for this role.
  • Skills: You should possess a good command of both spoken and written English, familiar with current trends and best practices in alumni relations etc.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in similar positions for 3-5 years is welcome.

Assistant Registrar, Graduate Studies

For this role you need a bachelor’s degree in related field, three (3) years or experience as grade 9 officer, must be proficient in MS Office packages such as Excel, word etc., Core skills such as good analytical, reporting writing and presentation skills is mandatory.

Deputy Director, Graduate Studies

  • Education: A PhD in relevant academic discipline is required.
  • Experience: He or she must have worked at grade 12 for a minimum of three (3) years.
  • Skills: Must be ICT inclined and understand MS-word, excel and SPSS properly.

MKU Recruitment Process

There are laid down process for Mount Kenya University recruitment ranging from application phase to final selection.

Vacancy Announcement: The recruitment process kicks off once there is announcement by the management of the university concerning vacant positions therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified persons.

Submitting Application: Persons interested in the roles announced by MKU will then proceed to submit application via the career portal on or before June 8, 2024.

Shortlisting and Screening: Submitted application shall be reviewed by the Human resource department and then names of shortlisted candidates will be published. A screening exercise shall further be conducted for all shortlisted applicants.

Final Selection: After interviewing shortlisting candidates and validating professed qualifications, skills and experience, the final list of successful candidates shall be announced and thereafter offered appointment letter.
