Nakuru County Recruitment (June 2024): Open Jobs/Vacancies. In pursuant to the provisions of Article 235 of Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and Section 59 of the County Governments Act No. 17 of 2012, Nakuru County Public Service Board invites applications from qualified Kenyan citizens to fill the following vacant positions.

  • Department of Water, Energy, Environment
  • Department of Trade, Cooperatives

Senior Principal Superintending Engineer

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 124,630 – 172,350 p.m. Job Group ‘R’ Allowances as per the SRC circulars attached to the position

Terms of Service: Five (5) years Contract

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  1. Served for a minimum period of twelve (12) years, three (3) of which should be in the grade of Senior Superintending Engineer (Water and Sewerage) Job Group ‘N’ and above;

OR

Served for a minimum period of twelve (12) years, three (3) of which should be at Senior Management Level in the wider public service or the Private Sector;

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Water Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s degree in Civil/Water Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as a Professional Engineer;
  • Current valid annual Practicing Licence from the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
  • Registered as a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK);
  • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution and
  • Demonstrated general administrative ability required for direction, control and implementation of water and sewerage engineering programs and projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be the Director of Water and Sewerage Services in the County and will be responsible to the Chief Officer – Water and Sanitation for planning, directing, controlling and coordinating technical and administrative activities of water and sewerage systems.

Specific duties and responsibilities will entail: –

  • Preparing professional and quality standards for construction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure;
  • Overseeing the construction of water and sewerage works undertaken directly or by contract;
  • Formulating, monitoring and evaluating requirements of physical and financial progress of development projects and programmes;
  • Verifying technical tender documents on water supply and sewerage infrastructure;
  • Overseeing the formulation of water pricing policies and strategies for rural, urban and waste water systems; and
  • Liaising with development partners and other stakeholders in the water sector for effective formulation, planning, coordination and implementation of projects and programs;
  • In addition, the officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plan and work plans; budgeting for the Department; and deployment, training and development of staff in the Department.

Tourism Officer II

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 32,700 – 42,690 p.m. Job Group ‘J’ Allowances as per the SRC circulars attached to the position Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-

  1. Bachelors’ degree in any of the following disciplines: Tourism, Tourism Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Eco-tourism, Hotel and Institutional Management and Information Technology, Travel and Tours Operations, International Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism Management; Hotel and Hospitality Management or its’ equivalent from a recognized institution; and
  2. Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Officer.

Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:

  1. Identifying and preparing simple reports on tourism product;
  2. Identifying Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises (SMTE’s) and community-based tourism projects;
  3. Inspecting and preparing reports on tourism facilities and service providers;
  4. Collecting data and information for development of tourism guide books and tourism statistics; and
  5. Identifying suitable locations for mounting tourist signages.
