About Kenya Veterinary Board

The Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) as currently constituted was established by the new Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals (VSVP) Act No. 29 of 2011 that was assented to by the President of the Republic of Kenya on 16th September 2011.

The Board’s mandate is derived from the VSVP Act, 2011 which includes the supervision of veterinary training, practices, businesses and employment of veterinary surgeons, professionals, and practitioners in Kenya.

At the moment, the Board has announced its interest in hiring suitably qualified candidates for its vacancies. Interested candidates can start sending their applications from 23rd January, 2024.

General Requirements for KVB Recruitment 2024

Shortlisting will only extend to applicants who fully satisfy the following requirements –

  • Applicant must be a Kenya Citizen, owning a Valid means of ID from the Government
  • Candidate must have a mean grade of C in KCSE including English and Swahili
  • The prospective candidate must satisfy the Chapter six (6) requirements of the 2010 Kenyan Constitution

Kenya Veterinary Board Jobs 2024 Requirements

In addition to the general eligibility criteria, here are the position based qualifications you must meet.

Office Assistant

  • The applicant must be proficient in computer applications adding to the general requirements

Driver

  • The applicant must have a Valid driving license free from any current endorsements and valid for any of the classes of vehicles which the officer is required to drive
  • Candidate must have passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade II
  • First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution must be in possession of the driver
  • He/she must have a Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Candidate applying must have a minimum of four years professional experience
  • Additionally, the prospective candidate must have an adequate knowledge of Highway Codes.

Veterinary Inspector

  • Applicant must possess a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized institution
  • Applicant must have a Valid Certificate of registration by Kenya Veterinary Board
  • He/she must have a Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Certificate in computer application skills is required as well

Management Positions

  • Candidate must have a Minimum of 12 years relevant work experience with at least five (5) in a management Position
  • Applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution
  • Having a Master’s Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution is mandatory
  • Candidate applying must be a member of a relevant professional body
  • He/she must have a certificate in Leadership Course of at least six (6) weeks from a recognized institution
  • Candidate must be proficient in computer applications
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct and demonstrated managerial and administrative skills as reflected in work performance and results is also required.

Kenya Veterinary Board Recruitment Process 2024

The KVB recruitment process consists of several stages including job listing, submission of application, assessment and shortlisting, screening, and onboarding. The board starts with announcing its interest in hiring individual(s).

Job vacancies will be updated on the official career portal of the employer, www.kenyavetboard.or.ke, attracting applications from interested candidates.

Upon reaching the application deadline, the Kenyan body will begin the assessment of all applications, furthermore shortlist candidates based on meeting the requirements for the recruitment.
